More than you might think.When George Lombardi was a psychology intern at the Missouri State Penitentiary in 1972\, the state prison population stood at 6\,000. Today\, Lombardi serves as the Director of Corrections for the State of Missouri and the prison population is more than 31\,000.How and why has this growth taken place? What can we do to reverse this trend?Join us at the May Women's Network Luncheon\, where Lombardi will use his decades of experience to discuss our state prison system and what can be done to make positive changes. He'll discuss how issues like early childhood education and trauma interdiction can play a part in decreasing the numbers of at-risk children entering the criminal justice system.Lombardi has served as Director of Corrections since 2009\, and has worked in the Missouri Department of Corrections for 35 years. He oversees the 20 adult correctional facilities\, seven community supervision centers\, two community release centers and 54 parole offices across Missouri. This includes approximately 11\,500 staff\, 75\,000 individuals on probation or parolees and 30\,000 inmates.Please join us to learn about this important community and state issue at the Thursday\, May 15 luncheon!The 2014 class of Experience Women's Network Graduates will receive their certificates at the May Luncheon!
